11/4/09 U.S. Senate Candidates Respond to MCAE ABE Questionnaire Basic Education
(Boston, MA) Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education (MCAE) is pleased to announce that four U.S. Senate candidates have responded to MCAE's Adult Basic Education Questionnaire sent to all the declared candidates for U.S. Senate.   "As a service to our members, MCAE has gathered information on the positions of candidates for U.S. Senate regarding issues that are of great concern to the field of adult basic education," said Kenny Tamarkin, Executive Director of MCAE . 10/19/09 MCAE Honors Outstanding Individuals from Adult Basic Education
(Boston, MA) In honor of National Adult Education and Family Literacy week, October 18th -24th, the Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education (MCAE) is pleased to announce that it is recognizing outstanding students and practitioners in adult basic education at its NETWORK 2009 conference.  The awards will be given at the conference during an awards luncheon on Thursday October 22, 2009 at 1:15pm at the Best Western Royal Plaza in Marlborough. 10/15/09 Congress Declares National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week - October 18 to 24
(Boston, MA) Congress has declared October 18 - 24, 2009 as National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week. Key sponsor Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO) was joined by Massachusetts Congressmen Michael Capuano, Edward Markey and James McGovern and 23 other co-signers who supported the resolution as a result of literacy advocacy and outreach encouraged by the Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education (MCAE). 10/30/08 Adult Learners Select Obama in Mock Election
(Boston, MA) Income taxes will prevail, dog races will be banned, and Barack Obama will win by a landslide if the votes of adult education students are any indicator of how the rest of the Commonwealth will vote on November 4. In October, thousands of adult learners from adult education centers across the state participated in a mock election that simulates the three Massachusetts referendum questions and the presidential candidates.
