There are many ways for programs, staff, teachers, and students to connect and engage with policymakers and advocate on behalf of adult basic education (ABE) issues. Personal engagement gives elected officials an opportunity to better understand your program and its role in the community.

Ways to Engage with Legislators

Invite to visit your program, teach a class, or speak informally to your students and teachers.

Invite to speak at your program’s graduation ceremony.

Have your students and teachers send postcards or letters describing why your program matters to them personally.

Take a group to meet legislators in person at the District Office or the State House.
