ABE ADVOCACY TRAINING FOR PRACTITIONERS AND STUDENTSMCAE offers on-site and regional advocacy training for adult basic education programs to help them develop and implement effective advocacy strategies. The next round of regional advocacy workshops will be held in the fall 2009. In collaboration with the Massachusetts Alliance for Adult Literacy (MassAAL), MCAE also conducts advocacy and leadership trainings for adult basic education students. These include a visit to legislative offices at the State House. The trainings are usually held in January and February prior to Adult Literacy Awareness Day. Massachusetts Alliance for Adult Literacy (MassAAL)/Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education (MCAE) Joint Student Leadership Trainings MassAAL/MCAE Student Leadership Trainings will focus on advocacy and media skill development for adult learners and will also highlight information on student leadership. A continental breakfast and light lunch will be served. The training will conclude with a trip to the State House to visit legislative offices. At the rally, speakers will include current students and graduates of adult basic education programs as well as elected officials. Before and after the rally we encourage you to plan to visit with legislators that represent adult learners from your program. Bring as many students and staff from your program as possible.
